About
This program was created to analyze
and balance the PayPal history log that you are able to download from the PayPal
site. Click here for a
sample screenshot of the program after a log file has been opened.
Download & Install
To use this program you first need
to click on ppainstall.exe to download the installation program. It is a
1.6 mb download.
Once downloaded open or run
ppainstall.exe and follow the installation instructions.
Usage
After you have downloaded and
installed this program you need to download your PayPal History Log file and
save it to your hard drive. To do that go into your PayPal account and
click on "History" then click on the "Download My History"
link. Then select a date range and for "File Type" choose
"Comma Delimited - All Activity". Then press the "Download
History" button. PayPal will send you an email once the report is
ready. Or you can revisit the "Download My History" page to see
if it is ready.
Once it is ready I recommend that
you save your reports in one folder on your hard drive to make them easy to
find. Also give them names like "log20040112All.csv" which would
mean the year 2004 month 01 through 12 and it is all data. It is not
required to be in that format, I just think it is easier for you to read.
Now that you have downloaded and
saved your history log you can start the analyzer program by clicking on the
"PayPal Analyzer" icon on your desktop or in the Start / Programs
menu.
To open your log file click on the
"Browse" button and locate your log file. The next time you come
into the program you will see the path is already entered and you will only need
to press the "Open" button.
To see more detail of your data
click on the +'s to expand each line or click on one of the View buttons.
View 1 gives only totals while View 4 gives complete transaction detail.
In the "Columns Displayed"
box you can select which columns you wish to be displayed in the grid.
Once you make your selection you will need to press the "Open" button
again. You can also have another selection under "Columns
Printed".
Once a file is displayed in the Grid
you can press the Balance button to remove entries so that the amount in Net
should be what your PayPal balance was at the end of the reporting period.
The "Remove Negatives"
button will remove all expenses and show only your income. "Remove
Positives" will show your expenses and withdrawals. You will need
to press the "Open" button to reload the grid between pressing
"Balance", "Remove Negatives" and "Remove
Positives".
You can temporarily move columns
like the Month column to the first column by left clicking on the heading and
dragging it to the first column. Then you can click on the Month heading
to sort by month.
To exit click on the X in the upper
right of the screen.
